Oakland Park Conservation Club is a Non-Profit 501C3 organization that was founded in the 1950’s. It was organized and started by a few individuals that had a firm belief that it is the responsibility of the people that live on this earth to help maintain its health and beauty. Over the years, the club began to realize that it would be up to the younger generations to continue this belief. During those beginning years, the club started to hold events for young children that would help educated them and hopefully get them involved with and learn to love the outdoors. The club started with just one event per year and is now holding several.
Currently, the Oakland Park Conservation Club holds five youth events, or programs per year.
All of our events or programs are all held at our club grounds in Marengo, Ohio and directed to educating and enlightening the younger generations about the outdoors and hopefully sparking an interest in some part of it that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. These events and programs range from teaching about habitat, to fishing, to hunting and gun safety. Our Fourth of July fishing derby is just a fun day of fishing for the kids with prizes, fishing poles and tackle boxes handed out to all the youth that attend. Several of these events are multiyear progressional events aimed at getting the kids to come back for two to four years depending on the event. Others are just one day events that allow them to experience some outdoor activities that they normally might not get the chance to.
We fund these events with our own funds and from donations and grants from generous donors and organizations. We are continuously seeking out organizations that want to invest in the youth of our future. Over the years we have continued to come up with new fund-raising ideas that will help support our organization and the annual events we hold. We also humbly invite people like you to support our club and donate if you wish to support our cause. We appreciate your time and consideration.
